OUR MISSION

To deliver cutting-edge training and curriculum in state-of-the-art facilities to apprentice and journey-level union carpenters seeking a strong, competitive advantage in today’s construction industry.

By recruiting and training those who strive for excellence, we provide our union and our contractors with highly-skilled, productive carpenters who exemplify the drive for excellence.

ABOUT THE TRAINING CENTER

The North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund is a training program jointly sponsored by the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters and our signatory building contractors. Through its programs, the North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund offers training in Commercial and Residential Carpentry, Floorcovering, Pile Driving, and Mill Cabinet for both apprentices and journeymen throughout New England and New York State.

The Skill Enhancement program offers in-person and online training for our members. Our apprenticeship training is a full-time day program and is run at our training centers throughout New England and New York State.

The Apprenticeship program is a four year, competency-based program that includes classroom and on-the-job training. The training consists of 160+ hours a year of classroom and shop training, as well as 4,000 – 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. All apprentices are trained using the most current safety and building technologies curricula.

The North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund is administered by a twenty-eight (28) member Board of Trustees; fourteen (14) Trustees represent contributing employers (Contractors) and fourteen (14) Trustees represent the Union. The Trustees determine the curriculum subject matter and the frequency by which they are offered. in a cooperative effort with the various Joint Apprenticeship Advisory Committees throughout New England. The goals of the Trustees are to increase safety, skills and encourage work advancement.

The NASCTF Apprenticeship programs in New England and New York State are approved by the State and Federal Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeships, respectively.

I know I am valued at the Carpenters union because of the trust my members and colleagues place in me, the respect given to me, and the heartfelt camaraderie between us. We each contribute our individual experiences and perspectives.

I appreciate being a part of a diverse team because the union embracing cultural diversity in a workplace is an important first step for the union to be competitive on an international scale.

I appreciate being a part of a diverse team as we are all participating in being change agent and builders of economic stability for our members. Our collective input will continue to protect workers’ values and create paths to a living wage career.

Sweeney’s culture is built around transparency, teamwork and the ability to grow. I see the Carpenters as having the same goals; that’s why we are proud to have them as our partners.

I’m very proud to be part of the UBC. I attend union meetings on a regular basis and classes to continue my training. I try to encourage other members to attend meetings and training as well. I am always actively recruiting new members and tell everyone how great of a choice it was for me to join the Carpenters union.

I’m grateful to be a part of a community of people that I can call family. It’s wonderful to be involved in a field that builds amazing architecture – changing Boston’s skyline one skyscraper at a time.
